Lower Precinct Neon signs

Neon Sings in the Lower Precinct

Neon artwork Lower Precinct

When you walk from the old Locarno Ballroom, which is now the Central Library, and into the lower Precinct you can see up high on the buildings a series of neon light panels. They look more impressive at night as this early photograph shows. They were designed by the City Architect Arthur Ling who took over from Donald Gibson to complete the new city centre shopping precincts. The panels are based on Coventry’s past industries – watch, cycle, electrical, space, car, aircraft, machine tools.
