Patterdale House, 41 Binley Road

The house on the corner of Binley Road and Marlborough Road had been boarded up for a number of years. It was previously used as a hostel for former prisoners and was the subject of an arson attack and had rubbish strewn around the grounds. It was regularly on the agenda at the Gosford Park Residents Association meetings.

The Coventry Society are delighted by the transformation of Patterdale House after its many years of dereliction and years when it was a centre for anti-social behaviour, including drug dealing and burglary.

A couple with teenage children has now purchased the house with a view to making it into a comfortable family home. They moved in during the summer of 2022, while work on the house was still in progress. In consultation with the City Council, in view of the character of the house and its status as part of the Conservation Area, restored it to its present handsome state.

The restoration of this significant building has made a huge difference to the neighbourhood and removed a source of nuisance and an eyesore, much to the relief of Police and Fire Services. We are confident that Patterdale House is now in safe and responsible hands.
