The Arts Society Coventry’s June lecture is on Tuesday 25th June, the last of the 2023-24 season, at Barr’s Hill School drama studio. Colin Shindler will be talking about The Great Train Robbery and the making of the film Buster. It was one of the most daring and best remembered crimes of the 1960s and probably the only one in which the public took the side of the criminals. This infuriated the Establishment which was, at the same time, dealing with the fallout from the Profumo Affair. Twenty five years after the robbery Colin resurrected the robbery by writing the screenplay for a film about it, concentrating on one of the gang leaders, Buster Edwards. He’ll share his first-hand account of the making of this celebrated film, starring Phil Collins and Julie Walters.

This is the last lecture of the 2023-4 programme and at the end of it, the exciting 2024-25 programme will be revealed.

Come along for refreshments at 6.30pm on Tuesday. The lecture is from 7.00-8.00pm.
