Sheep Pound
Pinfold / Sheep Pound Coat of Arms Bridge Road
The Coventry Society is concerned about the condition of the old Pinforld in Coat of Arms Bridge Road. The Coventry Society, then known as the Coventry Civic Amenity Society, restored and cleaned up the city’s last animal pound and returned it to the care of Coventry City Council in 1975.
In 2019 the site was again cleared and tidied up by volunteers. A fence was erected by the City Council rangers and some apple trees planted. However, the pound is now becoming unstable and structural work is needed to safeguard it.
The rear wall of the Pinfold is cracked and leaning making it unsafe. The Rangers put in some wooden support bracing. The Council was expected to address this and stabilise the wall, but has not done so.
