Heritage Open Days run from Friday 8th until Sunday 17th September 2023. There is a huge programme of events in Coventry and we hope that you will take this opportunity to visit the City’s wonderful heritage.
The Coventry Society will be taking over Drapers’ Hall for Sunday 17th September for a Community Heritage Showcase. Joining us on the day will be:
- Historic Coventry Trust – promoting the Trust’s premises in the city
- Jane Cobbett – showing a heritage quilt, a pictorial quilt of Coventry industry through the ages and a ‘make and take’ table
- Westwood Heath Local History Group, with a display about the group’s work
- Your Tour Guide, in costume telling us about the city and guided tours available
- Coventry Freeman’s Guild – telling us about the rich history of guilds in the city
- Weavers House – with a display about the House and plans for the future
- Coventry and District Archaeology Society – with finds from around the city
- Warwickshire Wildlife Trust with an exhibition about the Sherbourne Valley Project
- CovSoc’s Aaron Law with a photograph display and information about the city’s Mitchell sculptures.
We will be putting on tours of the building and providing information about its history. The building will be open from 11.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. and there will be guided tours of the building on the hour at midday, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
We are grateful for our hosts the Historic Coventry Trust and we hope that you will also visit the buildings and events that they are holding during the ten days of Heritage Open Days. These include the Big Bike Ride on Sunday 10th September between 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. Entry to the Charterhouse will be free on this day until 4.00 p.m.
