Our friends at The Arts Society Coventry have organised a lecture that promises to be a bit racier than usual but is sure to appeal to serious art lovers.

Michelangelo Mernisi (1571-1610), better known as Caravaggio after the town of his birth, lived a violent life in violent times, but is acknowledged as one of the most innovative and talented Masters of his age and of all time. His brilliant and visceral paintings had a major influence on the work of subsequent artists, including Rembrandt, Velasquez and Géricault. This lecture follows him from his birthplace to Milan, Rome, Naples and the islands of Malta and Sicily, revealing intriguing discoveries about the flawed genius.
