Join CovSoc for a Walk and Talk to commemorate Civic Day 2019. For this year’s Civic Day we are celebrating Coventry’s post war architecture. We meet at 12 noon on Saturday 22nd June 2019 at Lady Godiva’s statue in Broadgate. CovSoc Chairman, Paul Maddocks, will lead a free walking tour demonstrating the beauty of some of Coventry’s Festival of Britain architecture. All participants will receive a free map / leaflet showing all the postwar architecture in the city centre. Everyone is welcome: you don’t need to be a member.
Paul says “Some people think that post-war Coventry is all about dull grey concrete. Well join us on Saturday and see the reality for yourself. Our intention is to open people’s eyes to see the quality of our city’s postwar architecture, which is becoming more and more fashionable.”
Civic Day is a national celebration of civic pride. It is co-ordinated by Civic Voice, the national charity for the civic movement. Each year on, or around mid-summer’s day, civic societies around the country undertake an activity to demonstrate civic pride, that “I care about where I live”.
