The Council has invited “Expressions of Interest” for the operational management of the Priory Visitor Centre and Undercroft.

The Council is inviting businesses, community groups and organisations to take on the operational management and lease of the Priory Visitor Centre and Undercroft, Priory Row, Coventry CV1 5EX.

The successful applicant will be awarded a lease of 3.5 years from August 2025 subject to negotiation.

The Council has insisted that the lease for the PVC and the Undercroft cannot be separated.

The Council has stated that it is intentionally non-prescriptive about the types of proposals that are expected. All applications must include a proposal to deliver activity that has a cultural and community benefit; however, they are open to a broad range of ideas that will be both commercially sustainable over the lease period and is sensitive to the cultural heritage of the site.

Priory Visitor Centre and Undercroft are located in Priory Place and are built over the ruins of Coventry’s first cathedral. Final permitted use will be subject to agreement of both parties and consent of Head Landlord (Coventry Cathedral).

Please contact [email protected] to express interest and request an application pack which will include heads of terms and repair and maintenance responsibilities. The deadline for submission of Expressions of Interest (EOI) is 9 May 2025.

The current operational managers of the centre are Coventry University Student Union, who appear to have made little use of it.

Alan Denyer, who set up the LTB showroom, has confirmed on social media that he is interested in taking up the offer.
