Gabriele Munter: Expressionism, The Rise of The Blue Rider and beyond
A lecture by Colin Pink

Tuesday 8th October 2024 – Doors open at 6.00pm for 6.30pm lecture, at Barr’s Hill School Theatre, Radford Road, Coventry CV1 4BU

Gabriele Münter (1877-1962), pioneering German Expressionist painter, was a founder member of the Blue Rider artists’ movement and partner for 10 years of Wassily Kandinsky. In a varied career spanning two world wars, her style changed and developed as she continued to paint throughout her life, and she is now recognised as the equal of her more famous male colleagues. Her work remains in copyright and cannot be used to advertise this event, so the portrait above is a portrait of her painted by Kandinsky in 1905. Come to this lecture to hear more about her and see slides of her own wonderful paintings.

This is the October meeting of The Arts Society Coventry. For membership details and further information, see www.theartssociety.org/coventry
