Henry Moore (1898-1986) Reclining Figures 1944-46, Ascher Archive

The Arts Society Coventry 2023/24 series of exciting and varied monthly meetings commences on Tuesday 19th September with a lecture on The Post-War Textile Visionaries of Modern Art by Ashley Gray, leading Art Gallery Director and specialist in textiles, interior design, fashion and Modernism.  After the Second World War, the world of fashion, interiors and modern art fused, with dynamic results. From Matisse and the flamboyant Parisian modernists to the cutting edge of the St Ives school, this lecture considers the role fashion and textiles played in democratising modern art through the eyes of two innovative textile visionaries.

The TASC committee are delighted to have a new venue – the theatre at Barr’s Hill School, Radford Road, Coventry, CV1 4BU. This has excellent facilities, including on-site parking for those coming by car, and is easily accessible from central Coventry. Subsequent lectures will be in the same location on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Doors open at 6.30pm so you can meet other members over a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink before the lecture starts at 7pm.  Details of the 2023-24 programme can be found on https://theartssociety.org/coventry, as can a map showing how to get to the venue.
