CINDY POLEMIS: LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE GIRLS

Cindy Polemis is an art historian, independent lecturer, and art guide. Since 2016 she has worked as an official art guide at Tate Britain and Tate Modern.  She is particularly keen to draw parallels with art and social history and her lectures are accessible and engaging, drawing out the stories of art and artists which are steeped in human emotions and experiences which we all share.

With the art scene finally giving some real recognition to long-established and emerging female artists, this lecture takes a look at what’s been happening in Britain: who are the leading contemporary female artists, who should be household names?

Entrance will be via the cafe doors and the lecture is in the downstairs room. “We are delighted that the Herbert management have agreed that this month, members and guests attending will also have the opportunity to view the feature exhibition at The Herbert, Daniel Lismore’s ‘Be Yourself, Everyone Else is Taken”. Those wishing to avail themselves of this opportunity should arrive for 6pm as our lecture will start at 7pm as usual. Unfortunately, it will not be able to view the exhibition after the lecture.”

Subsequent lectures will be held at The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum on the 4th Tuesday of each month.  Full details of the programme are available on the Arts Society Coventry website.

The annual programme of lectures is free to members.  To join The Arts Society Coventry, please email [email protected]
